Horizons croisés
Project summary:
HORIZONS CROSSED. Ateliers de conversation is freely inspired by the workshops organised for many years at the Bibliothèque Publique d’Information in Paris and is the subject of the documentary film "Atelier de conversation" that Bernard Braunstein directed in 2017.
These exchange moments in French are intended for people from very different backgrounds and statuses.
The aim is to invite these people to express themselves very freely on subjects promoted by a "mediator", in a cultural space; open to a wide public and conducive to cultural and intercultural exchanges.
Target audience:
Open to all, HORIZONS CROISES. Ateliers de conversation aims to attract Montpellier residents, newcomers, foreign students, migrants and refugees and audiences further away from culture.
The target audience includes participants from all nationalities and diverse social backgrounds who wish to improve their fluency in French, understand the shared culture of the host country or connect with others by sharing cultural experiences.
Characteristics:
These meetings, led by cultural mediators, aim to offer participants a space of social and cultural diversity where, beyond representations and prejudices, dialogue and listening to others help to create a social and human bond.
This intercultural dialogue will make it possible to question stereotypes and assumptions about "the other" and to forge social links.
The place of these meetings responds to a cultural legitimacy in the city while being a place of circulation welcoming very different audiences.
Staff mobilized:
Mediators: Students and former students of the Master of Cultural Studies at the University Paul Valéry - Montpellier 3.
The animation is provided by the Cultural Service of the Alliance Française de Montpellier
Coordination: Campus France and the Alliance Française de Montpellier with a coordinator, for support and logistics.
