What level must candidates demonstrate in order to gain French citizenship?
From 1 January 2012, applicants for French citizenship must demonstrate French oral language skills at level B1 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (this implies being able to ‘listen’, ‘take part in a conversation’ and ‘orally express oneself continuously’). In the TCF, candidates will achieve level B1 by obtaining BOTH:
- a minimum score of 300 points in the Listening Comprehension test AND
- a minimum mark of 6/20 in the Spoken Expression test

L’Alliance Française reserves the right to cancel an examination examination session if there are not enough candidates registered. Certificates will be issued between 15 and 21 days after the examination (valid for 2 years).Online Registration
